Learn more about ESC's rich history and notable achievements, from its humble beginnings to our continued significant milestones, as we go beyond 30 years since our first sheet pile was driven at Magnetic Island, Australia, in 1986.

ESC was co-founded by Milton Colson, a visionary builder from New Zealand and John Ashley Yeates, a skilled engineer from Australia, combining their diverse expertise to drive the company's early success.

  • In 1986, ESC's founding fathers completed their first project at Magnetic Island, Great Barrier Reef, Australia.

 

  • In 1991, ESC had secured approval for 15 global patents of proprietary wide-profile sheet piles and established a presence in Singapore, undertaking significant projects like the Great World re-development.

 

  • In 1994, ESC expanded to Malaysia, contributing to flagship projects such as the JB Landmark Basement Foundation. ESC has expanded gradually across the globe. Projects have been delivered to every continent of the world, and ESC has a physical presence in the most important markets worldwide.

 

  • In 2001, ESC began exporting to projects across Asia and Oceania, building on its operations in Malaysia and Singapore.

  • In 2007, ESC Asia was set up in Hong Kong and established its own representative office in Shanghai, expanding its business into Greater China.

  • In 2008, ESC secured a mega project in the UAE named OT2.

  • Also, in 2008, ESC established a relationship with MISI and began the stocking and distribution business of hot-rolled JIS sheet pile profiles.

  • In 2010, ESC Pile Trading (Shanghai) Limited is set up, strengthening ESC's  position as one of the biggest  sheet pile vendors in China.

  • In 2012, ESC secures the first beam + sheet pile combi-wall project in China, marking the first project that uses a combi-wall temporary  foundation in the country.

  • In 2013, ESC set up a joint venture operation company in the USA and began operations in the country.

  • In the same year, ESC set up the company Acerlum ESC in Mexico and began  operations in the country.

  • In 2014, ESC secured the OT2 second phase, one of the biggest hot-rolled sheet pile combi-wall projects in the UAE.

  • In 2015, ESC secured the Waterco  project, one of the biggest cold-rolled sheet pile combi-wall projects in the USA and also the first sheet pile combi-wall  project from China to the USA.

  • In 2017, ESC exported the steel structure to Hinkley power station where ESC has developed from a sheet piling company to a supply chain management company for high-end steel structures.

  • In 2018, ESC Steel Philippines is set up. ESC began operations in the Philippines.

  • In the same year, Marubeni Itochu Steel secured a 10% share of ESC, making ESC an affiliated company of MISI.

  • In 2021, ESC USA set up a Charlotte office, expanding its operations further in the USA.

  • In 2022, ESC secured a 15K MT combi-wall supply and design for the new Kapalama Container Terminal.

ESC continues its mantle as a “solutions provider”

regardless of whether talking about foundations, marine quay walls, retaining walls, flood mitigation or bridge structures and alike. Design and supply is the core behind the group however, ESC also installs in selected markets.

 

With 16 locations and growing, ESC Group offers strategically located offices and agents around the world to serve its global client base.

 

Over the last 30+ years, ESC has provided engineered solutions in every continent, including Antarctica.

ESC Products are manufactured at world-class facilities all over the world in Asia, Middle East, Europe & North America.
